Become a Member
Student membership shall be open to any full time student enrolled in a college or university who is interested in school psychology but not yet certified for practice.
- The prospective member must attest to status as a full-time student, use their university email address, and provide an expected date of graduation.
- Student members are required to upgrade to Active membership when certified.
- Persons eligible for Active membership may not apply for student status.
- Exceptions may be granted by the Executive Board

School Psychologists’ Advancement of Minorities, Inc(SPAM)
Minority Scholarship Program
Established in December 1993, the School Psychologists’ Advancement of Minorities (SPAM) is the scholarship program founded by the late Robin Satchell to help countless students of color pursue graduate education in school psychology. Robin was the first African American president of MSPA and the first advocacy program manager for NASP.
The purpose of SPAM is to provide financial assistance to enable students of color in school psychology to complete their education and enable them to enter the field. School psychology is a field that consists of five percent (5%) identifying being from a culturally or linguistically diverse background or of color.
According to Dr. Deborah Crockett, a past president of NASP, SPAM served as the inspiration and model for the NASP Minority Scholarship Program. While currently the SPAM scholarship is on a brief hiatus, there are plans to award at least one scholarship in conjunction with the diversity committee in the future in honor of Robin Satchell’s contributions to MSPA and in increasing diversity in school psychology.
